Flowerfest - Kalamazoo, Michigan
July (third or fourth weekend) Approx. $100

One day riding on our own and one day with the Flowerfest Tour west of Kalamazoo. The roads are lighly trafficed, gently rolling, and offer great scenery.
This weekend is the least expensive and least fancy of the tours, but it is a great chance to get in a weekend of biking on low traffic roads in the gently rolling countryside in S.W. Michigan.

We will gather on Saturday late morning for our own ride of about 20 to 30 miles (determined by the wishes of the participants). The route isn't set yet, but could include a ride out to a small family amusement park where we can ride the bumper boats or formula K cars, or it might involve a ride around beautiful Gull Lake.

After dinner we will take in a concert in the park or play at the historic Barn Theater before turning in to rest up for the big ride on Sunday.

On Sunday we will join hundreds of other recreational riders, plus members of the Saturn Professional Racing Team for the Flowerfest Bike Ride. Distance options vary from about 12 to over 100 miles. The longer routes have some challenging hills, the shorter ones are pretty flat. Rest stops with food, water and restrooms, maps, arrows painted on the roads, and a sag vehicle are all a part of the ride.

If you want an inexpensive weekend getaway that's close to Chicago this is it.
