General Disclaimer
and General Info:
If you have
never traveled with Honest Bob's Tours a little background information
is in order.
Honest Bob's isn't a company at all.
All trips are run on a non-profit basis to provide the maximum opportunity
for people to join in. Trips are inexpensive but never cheap.
By taking advantage of group discounts these trips are almost always less
expensive than you could do them yourself. There are no employees at Honest
Bob's, there is just Bob, and he's on vacation so he doesn't want to be
bothered with work. What this means is that all participants should be
able to basically take care of themselves. Knowing how to fix a flat tire,
read a map, dress appropriately for the weather or any of the other things
that can come up on a bike trip come in very handy. At least if you can't
do all of the above items you should be charming enough to make someone
else on the trip want to help you, who knows, maybe even Bob.
Trips almost always involve some activity in addition to biking such as
canoeing, theater, concerts, or sightseeing. Some trips are geared for
bikers who regularly ride 50 or more miles a day, others are fine for
novice cyclists who physically active and in good health. In all cases
participants should plan on riding their bike a few times for at least
one hour in the weeks before the trip to make sure they and their bike
are ready for the trip.
These trips aren't designed to be big "party" trips. If you
want to have a beer after a long ride, or a glass of wine with dinner,
no problem. If you are looking for an all day party, go on RAGBRAI.
